Back to directory

The short version

You can browse this whole directory without an account, and we don’t track you while you do. You only need to sign in if you want to endorse a listing, and you can delete your account yourself at any time. We don’t sell your information.

Who we are

Garden Isle Professionals is a free directory of local professionals on Kauaʻi, published at www.kauaipros.com. If you have a question about this policy, email support@fritznet.net.

What we collect

Browsing the directory

Nothing that identifies you. No account, no analytics, no advertising trackers. Our web host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting; those are the host’s ordinary operational records and we don’t use them to build any profile of you.

If you create an account

An account exists for one purpose: so an endorsement can be attributed to a real person and counted once. We store your email address and, if you registered with a password, a cryptographic hash of it — never the password itself.

If you sign in with Google instead, Google confirms your identity to us and shares your email address and basic profile details. We never see your Google password. Your use of Google sign-in is also covered by Google’s privacy policy.

We also record which listings you have endorsed. Endorsement totals are public; your identity is not — the site never shows who endorsed a listing.

If you suggest a listing

The suggestion form asks for details about the business you’re recommending — name, phone number, service area, and what they do. That information is intended for publication once an editor reviews it.

You may optionally add your own name and email so a reviewer can follow up. Those two fields are for us only and are never published. No account is needed to send a suggestion.

If you are a listed professional

Listings hold business contact details — business name, contact name, phone number, service area, and a description. This is business information published so customers can find you.

You can ask us to change or remove your listing at any time, and you don’t need an account to do it. Use the “Closed or incorrect?” link on your listing and choose one of the owner options, or email support@fritznet.net. Removal requests from an owner are actioned; we don’t require a reason.

Cookies

The site sets two cookies, both strictly necessary, and neither one tracks you:

  • Sign-in cookie — set only after you sign in, so you stay signed in. It expires after 8 hours of inactivity, and signing out clears it.
  • Security cookie — a standard anti-forgery token that stops other websites submitting forms on your behalf.

We do not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes, we will update this page and the date at the top before any such cookie is set, and we will show a consent notice where one is required.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it for marketing. It is handled by our web host, which stores the site and its database on our behalf, and by Google if you choose Google sign-in. We will also disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Account details and endorsements are kept while your account exists. Suggestions and listing reports are kept as part of the editorial record, so we can tell what was reviewed and when.

Deleting your account

You can delete your own account at any time, without asking us. Sign in and open delete your account, or use the link in the footer. You’ll be asked to confirm, because it cannot be undone.

Deleting removes your account, your email address, your sign-in details, and your endorsements. Endorsement totals on the listings you endorsed will drop by one. Anything already published from a suggestion you sent stays in the directory, since that is business information about someone else.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@fritznet.net and we’ll respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; we’ll honour those requests regardless of where you are.

Children

This site isn’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and passwords are stored hashed. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and move the date at the top. Material changes will be summarised here rather than slipped in quietly.
